About us

Pappadum

Pappadum lives in the space between old and new. A tiger leaps across rooftops, a flying monkey soars through shifting skies, and ancient symbols glow with fresh life. It's a world built from memory, where the things we grew up with become things worth keeping. Old symbols, mythic figures, and living heritage reimagined as modern essentials: South Asian nostalgia, remembered and passed on.

Our Founder

Pappadum was founded by Sarada Ravindra Winstead as a celebration of her Indian heritage and the joy of growing up between cultures. Born in New York to Indian émigré parents, she was raised at the intersection of two worlds—where Diwali lights met school plays and Saturday morning cartoons, and family trips to India left their imprint in color, sound, and scent. Sarada is an attorney by training, a creative at heart, and inspired by the alchemy of memory, meaning, and transformation. With over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, designing, art direction, and brand-building, Sarada has long been drawn to the magic of creating things that are beautiful and meaningful.

Now based in Los Angeles and a mother of two, Sarada is driven by a question many in the diaspora know well: how do you keep a heritage alive across distance and generations? Pappadum is her answer. It's a playful, modern take on India's cultural heritage, made for anyone reconnecting with where they come from, and for the parents passing it on.
