About us
Pappadum
Nestled between ancient lore and ever-evolving traditions lies the world of Pappadum. Here, a playful tiger leaps across rooftops as whispers of legend drift through the air. A flying monkey soars like a superhero through skies of shifting colors, as chakras glow like celestial gears. Time, a playful trickster, loops and weaves itself together like a storybook quilt, where every thread is a memory waiting to be rediscovered.
Pappadum is a place for those who believe in the magic of old things made new, where Indian cultural motifs and iconography are explored with a nostalgic spirit, and reimagined as modern essentials. Mythic figures, living heritage, and age-old symbols are given new expression in playful, contemporary designs and storytelling. Pappadum is a celebration of traditions reinterpreted for a new generation; every color, story, theme, and symbol carries the soul of timeless wonder.

Our Founder
Pappadum was founded by Sarada Ravindra Winstead as a celebration of her Indian heritage and the joy of growing up between cultures. Born in New York to Indian émigré parents, she was raised at the intersection of two worlds—where Diwali lights met school plays and Saturday morning cartoons, and family trips to India left their imprint in color, sound, and scent. Sarada is an attorney by training, a creative at heart, and inspired by the alchemy of memory, meaning, and transformation. With over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, designing, art direction, and brand-building, Sarada has long been drawn to the magic of creating things that are beautiful and meaningful.
Now based in Los Angeles and a mother of two young kids, her favorite creative project is finding fun and imaginative ways to teach them about their Indian roots, often through storytelling, nostalgia, and memories of her travels to India. Pappadum is her tribute to that journey: a playful, modern take on India’s cultural heritage, made for the next generation (and their grown-ups too).
